PALETTE
VEGETATION
The vegetation palette is imagined in tones of Red. Some small trees have been introduced to bring Nature into the Urban fabric, at an in-between, domesticated scale. The new trees are ornamental and very resistant to Rødberg’s extreme temperatures and conditions. They mark the main entrances of the Rødberg Tower. They have great seasonal variability, with changes in foliage and blooms in warm tones.
Some herbaceous species are also introduced to promote biodiversity and the presence of vegetation for the center of Rødberg.
MATERIAL
The materials of the Rødberg Tower identify the different urban functions. We have wood and concrete for the two urban platforms (the tribune-like squares) that suggest the possibility of stopping and pausing. The self-supporting staircase, on the other hand, is designed to be made of cor-ten steel. For the external 2 materials have been chosen: a translucent material (such as polycarbonate) and a transparent material (glass).
SYMBOLIC ELEMENTS
RAINDEER FOOTPRINTS
The decoration of the urban platform of the ground level will be of concrete with embossed reindeer footprints. Like snow, concrete will have footprints of animals in the woods and the surrounding landscape imprinted. At the passage of the reindeer, a real pack, other animals can then be added: wolfes or lynxes, etc ..
These footprints will decorate the flooring of the staircase and will be a strong reminder of the bond of the territories with this animal and its wild nature.
ELECTRICITY AND LIGHTS
Light is the phisycal element that could evoke the presence and relevance of Norel1 throughout the spaces of Rødberg. The light and the electricity are for the town foundational elements, that connect to the very roots of the settlement origin, a workers town for the new iconic the hydroelectric power-plant. The presence of these elements would play a strong cultural role in reconnecting then city to its industrial icon and to its heritage. These two elements are now associated in the project with devices and spaces for urban leisure and comfort.
